Coinvest Loan Interest Deductibility

Can you deduct PE coinvest loan interest on your personal taxes?

When I plug it into TurboTax, there's no impact on my tax return. To the extent you need interest income or something to offset it, if you don't have enough in a tax year, can you carry the loss forward indefinitely?

Seems that if you don't file some form each year, you might not be able to carry it forward?

Anyone have clarity on how this works?

My rate is now 6.875% because it's floating rate - if I'm not going to be able to deduct it, that's basically 13.75% taxable equivalent yield at a 50% tax rate so I'd think it would make sense to sell securities that have a lower potential return to lock in the riskless return from paying down the debt
