Corp Dev --> Private Credit...Possible?

Hello everyone - I'm a long time reader/user of WSO but this is my first post. Really, the title says it all. Is it possible to make the switch from Corp Dev to PC?

Some background on myself - I work in a small Corp Dev group at a highly acquisitive public healthcare company. We do ~7-12 deals a year of various transaction sizes ($5m-500m in EV). I'm very involved in all aspects (modeling, IC material prep, conducting DD, legal negotiations etc.) and have been in the role for 1.5 years. Prior to joining Corp Dev I spent ~1.5 years in IB and ~2.5 years in structured finance/portfolio vals.

Admittedly, I don't know a ton about the PC industry but I do find the dynamics of these roles very interesting, which is what has prompted this post. So I guess really my questions are:

  • Is my background attractive for private credit roles? If not, what is the most common background (assume LevFin?)
  • Any tips/advice on getting up to speed with the industry?
  • Are most roles handled through recruiters? If so, can you share?
  • Would really like to learn more about the actual day-to-day in the role - if someone is willing to provide some high level data points

For what its worth, I'm located in a MCOL area so opportunities come up here and there. Appreciate you all reading this!
