CPP Investment Board case study
I’m interviewing for an analyst position in the infrastructure team of the CPP Investment board and am due to do a case study next week. Does anyone have any advice/has anyone done one before? Also, does anyone have any idea about compensation there?
Comp is in line with the Street.
I'm assuming this is for a final round interview? If so, the case isn't impossible, as long as you're able to provide reasonable explanations for all your assumptions. It's fairly early for campus recruitment, so I'm guessing you're an experienced hire; so you should have no problem with the technicals.
in line with ibd in toronto in terms of all in comp?
Toronto IBD just raised base by 15K for analysts (making base come to 80K), so I imagine CPP will follow suit. I'm unsure about the bonus, but it's definitely less than sell-side, given it's a public pension plan (i.e. Canadian Federal Government). So bonus may be 100% of base during an epic year, which CPP hasn't really had (someone please correct me if I'm wrong).
Wait, Canadian IBD just pays 65K out of school?
Thanks for the advice and you're right, it is for an experienced hire position.
I’ve now completed the case study and can give you an update on what it was like. In essence it was evaluating an investment opportunity (in my case a grocery company) and the corresponding returns one might get on their equity investment. It wasn’t overly taxing, but was arduous.
Still planning to move over to the buy side?
Can You expand on what it was like?
