Sorry to hear. Would be easier to give guidance if you could elaborate on lack of fit with culture and team.

Obviously chemistry is vital in any small firm, but developing workable relationships with people you might not 'click' with socially is a key business skill, as is taking responsibility for visibility in the firm. I don't want to be presumptuous here, though.

What specific attributes of the people and firm culture are troubling?

  1. Change your perspective. Seems like you are a smart professional who just has a bump in the road. It happens. That does not = failure.

You broke into PE straight from school, do you know how many bankers and wannabe bankers are trying to do the same on WSO! With your limited experience your situation may seem daunting, but it is not. It is a challenge that you can deal with.

If you feel like a failure , then you will think like one. It is critical to take control of your perspective.

  1. ID the cause of the issue. Once you realize this is a manageable issue, do some introspection. What can you do in the next few weeks to change the situation? What mistakes have you made and what can you do about it? Sometimes we can be professionally and socially oblivious so if you have an older (a few levels above you) colleague who can help you, then reach out.

  2. Get some easy wins. Go after so low hanging fruit projects or tasks that can help your team and get you some visibility.

  3. Hedge your results- start working with a recruiter or just apply for other jobs. While trying to fix things at the office, start looking at some other firms.

Also I consider a WSO mentors. I haven't talk to one per se, but I have got other WSO services where I have gotten amazing feedback.

Good Luck!

> no fit with company culture > no fit with mid to senior team members

Huge red flags there. I would start looking to move to another firm and reaching out to headhunters on opportunities. You won't be on the fast-track if you don't mesh with the company culture and you probably won't want to be there long-term either.
