1) Does Hayfin hire analyst / convert from their internship? If not I think it’s a no-brainer
2) what interests you? Are you set on credit? If so Hayfin is a great place to start your career, but if you want to retain and maximize optionality go to a BB
3) Branding / Network: are you coming from a blue chip school (i.e. target) where you will inherit a network in finance or your desired field? Or do you need the BB brand & network to make you successful?
I don’t think it’s a black or white decision and it’s probably quite a personal one. I will say that I have interacted twice with the Hayfin guys and they come across as sharp. I don’t know more than that regarding returns, how the team works in particular.
Hey man, if I come from a bluechip/top target and plan on doing a master’s - would you still say citi is definitively stronger than Hayfin?
I would say both are unique opportunities in that they literally take almost nobody, particularly Hayfin which offers 1 internship for each of its main teams every year
If you have both offers, well done. Really depends on your interests but I’d say go with Hayfin; still relatively new, less structured so your learning ceiling is definitely higher and you can get to know the people you work with more intimately.
It’s pointless thinking about your “exit” from this internship - it’s an internship not a job. Both are great opportunities but the other one also comes with the uncertainty of team selection; are you comfortable with the prospect of being put in a sector team you’re not interested in? Just something to be mindful of.

Overall very good - know they interview at a very high standard... not sure of comp but for sure they're good.
Bump
Do you have an offer from them? Would be easier to compare specific teams at Hayfin to specific teams at BB.
Say a solid coverage or products team at Citi/BOFA versus Hayfin Direct Lending & Special Sits
Curious

How would you view their maritime or healthcare team?
Would you summer there over second tier IB like Nomura?
For IB yeah Id take Hayfin but Nomura markets may be better or equal

Can I ask you which one you end up choosing?
