Distressed PE Funds Focused on Biotech - Recommendations?

A friend has a company with very strong patents. They were challenged by a competitor and the competitor lost. The tech itself has good applications, and a clear path to approvals, plus it made it through initial trials.

The company was publicly traded and ran into some issues with the SEC, and so, it's distressed.

Anyone have recommendations on who they should talk to? I'm thinking this would be a good size for a firm that can deploy ~$30m - $50m.

Friend is very reasonable and good to work with, he just doesn't want to see the tech wasted.

I know a special sits team that could be interested and writes checks in the range you mentioned. But what exactly does your friend want to do/what's his goal

Do you know if he's only open to cash or would he accept scrip?

What's the existing structure of the company today - any real assets to speak of or just the IP and a ticker?

Is he looking for someone to takeover and basically turnaround/bootstrap the company through trials and hopefully approval or is he open to IP sales/leasing to qualified strategics that would want to do something with it?

Don't need answers to these here just wanted to show there's interest and if the feeling's mutual, feel free to PM me.
