dumb mistake dictating my next 4+ years, any insights are helpful

Hey monkeys- I went through placement at GS but it got bungled and I placed in  Real Estate Banking. Hoped to switch at summers end, but wasn't an option (group doesn't know I requested transfer). Feeling regret that I'll be stuck in a niche group  I'm not interested in for the next 2 years. Not to mention it will rule out my shot at a traditional buyout role at a MF. Here are my options:

  1. Re recruit before summer and if successful, renege
    1. Cons: current offer rescinded if word gets out I'm recruiting; wasted prep time for PE recruiting if re recruiting doesn't work; will burn bridges
  2. Transfer internally- there is a potential 2nd placement process depending on headcount
    1. Cons: don't know which groups will have opening ATM; transfer unlikely to be approved given my REIB group is understaffed; why start off on the wrong footing with my group saying I want to transfer, knowing they likely wouldn't approve
  3. Do 2 years of REIB and hope that some traditional buyout funds are willing to take a look at my resume; maybe lateral halfway
    1. Pro: don't risk losing my current offer; still have prestige name even if in RE
