Entry and Exit Values?

I asked the head of the PE firm for all the financials when joining. He agreed. But, I am only getting access to current financial operations. I also want the financial models for all entries and exits. Is this inappropriate to ask the head of the firm? It is all private information.

I feel like a full financial picture will help me do my job to maximize value.

Maybe I'm misreading this, but I don't know many PE firms that actually have a "grand unifying model" for all of their investments. Are you expecting VDR access for individual models of the dozens of investments held by the firm?

I have access to their current portfolio company financials, but was not given information about their entries and exits. I do want to see individual models to compare the purchase price with current worth.

Asking for all the financials feels like overkill regardless of your role.  But what they should be willing to share is whatever they send out for LP reporting as the tearsheets by company and the overall fund performance tracking should have what you're looking for in terms of entry valuation, current MTM, MTE scenarios, as well as current financial profile vs. at entry.  I know we have that type of package ready to go off the shelf after every quarter.

Oh ok thanks - makes sense.

It depends on the context, what type of work are you looking to do with the PE firm

It is small firm, so I am going to be wearing a lot of hats. I'm mainly taking the load off of the head of the firm and helping with his duties, but also interact with the heads of the portfolio companies to help grow the business as well as helping to close deals. I'm basically on every memo and call that the head person is on. We talk a lot about current operations, but not much about entries and exits. It seems like the head of the company mainly just wants to grow the current portfolio companies and is not really focused on buying anything right now, although he is looking to sell one company and I hope I'm involved in that.
