Entry Level venture roles

I've noticed recently when looking through the team pages for many VC funds-especially smaller funds-the only roles are partners and admins. How to these funds recruit new talent? Or do all partners come from outside funds. In either case who handles all then entry level work that a post MBA associate would typically do?

Most VC funds don't have a lot of entry level work to be done. The companies are typically structured with VPs and Partners, and 1-2 associates. In my experience usually the associates are friends, family, or coworkers from previous funds. I've talked to several VC Partners about how to position myself to get into VC in the long run...there are 2 main ways, assuming you don't already have 7+ figures.

1) Work for a VC-funded startup. 2) Work at a "brand name" bank/mega fund/PE shop.
