Could someone explain to me the difference between funds - for example is a flagship fund separate from a tech focused fund at the same firm? or is that tech fund an allocation of the flagship fund.

Flagship = main. Could be that a fund does tech investing out of the flagship. Or, they might have a separate fund that does growth tech for example. Good example is Bain Capital. The main PE is the flagship - there is going to be a TMT or Tech vertical within this. They also have a Tech Opportunities fund that does tech buyouts and late stage minority deals.
