How long have you been in CorpDev for? It might be better to remove it from your CV and explain it as a gap year for travelling
Wouldn’t it show up in background checks ? Don’t think people would buy “1 year of travelling”
Re recruit for banking, PE analyst programs, or do an MBA in a few years
I won’t be able to afford an MBA at this comp I’m not taking home enough
I mean this nicely, but toughen up a bit. Nothing in life is easy. Many people in my MBA class took loans out and grinded their ass off to get banking jobs. This includes international students that made literally nothing pre-MBA. You are already 10 steps ahead as a US citizen.
You can definitely go back to banking if you did at least a year as an analyst and you haven't been in corporate too long. Corp dev / strategy is actually adjacent / useful exposure and should be able to spin well in interviews. I'd just start networking and applying
In Corp for 1-2 years now is it too late I’m worried
Why are you jonseing to get back? You quit for a reason, remember? I did aswell. The job was so miserable and I knew the hours / stress never end, same and even worse for PE too. I quit after a 1.5 years to corp strategy and am 100x happier. Is it a comp issue? What are you clearing? If helpful, I got lucky with an offer that pays more than IB and reduced my hours in half. Huge win
Yes comp issue and I wasn’t miserable though I was happy in the role in IB
