Final year of Uni - how much should I bother?
Hi WSO Community,
Because of a quirk in my university's degree system and my past performance, I will automatically get a first class degree overall as long as I get a "pass" aka 40 in all my modules this year (my final year at uni)
I have an IB FT offer lined up (all I need is 2:1 overall) - Would PE firms down the line care if I get a low 2:2 in a couple modules this year? Isn't all that matters the final overall degree result so that they can list on their team profiles that all their team have nice and shiny first class degrees? My understanding was only corp law cared about all the specific module grades.
Because of the impact of COVID on uni life and lining the offer up, I'm keen to try and enjoy this year as much as possible / do some more networking

Don't have any advice but congrats on the offer!
No firm (in finance), not even the firm you have the IB offer for gives a shit what your individual module grades are. Especially 2+ years out of uni.

Postgraduate programmes down the line will look at your undergraduate scores. Don’t screw it up.

Grades always matter. Imagine you decide to do an MBA... you never know the future. I understand your perspective but think about long term even if it seems like a marginal benefit from today's perpspective
