Finessing Language Requirment

Recently I have been going through the summer analyst recruitment process for a MF PE firm in Asia. The requirement for the position is fluency in the local language, and I thought I would apply because why not. I am definitely a fluent speaker and typer in the local language, but definitely not a fluent reader.

I talked to other people before I applied whether it’s a bad idea if I apply and they all said that there should not be any issues. I passed the first “local language”Hireview stage, online assessments, and also the first two rounds of interviews with one in the local language. I never expected to honestly get this far in the recruitment process, and am starting to really question what to do if I do end up going all the way.

I can either accept the offer and absolutely grind throughout the year to be able to at least get by to a certain extent when the internship comes, or reject the offer. Do you guys have any experience in this area and what would you do? Any suggestions? A MF PE internship would be obviously an insane achievement, but I’m also feeling like I am not deserving of the role if I do get it. Obviously nothing is for certain yet, but I would love to hear your ideas also for some reference down the line.
