Former IB, PE with experience in CRE acquisitions, development and asset management... But finding it extremely difficult to land a new role in this market. Any tips?

After starting my career in IB (2 years in leveraged finance), then I spent ~5 years on the PE investments side. Decided to pursue an interest and made a career switch to real estate. However, I wanted to go the owner/operator route to understand the dirt/nuts and bolts of things. I've held two role since (1 year at each shop). The first role was focused on acquisitions and asset management at a NYC based owner/operator doing value-add deals. Then an opportunity came up to dive into development. It was an opportunity to learn the more complex part of real estate, do bigger deals and the pay was slightly better. I wore many hats and touched development, acquisitions, asset management etc. Unfortunately the firm was not as well capitalized as I was led to believe and the interest rate hike destroyed their pipeline and stalled deals. This led to downsizing and left me out of a job. I'm in the NY tri-state area. I'm applying to a lot of roles, speaking with all of the head hunters and networking. It doesn't seem to be effective. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to improve my search process? Happy to chat privately.
