Getting crappy work

Currently an intern at a small pe shop in the southwest haven’t don’t any work past IOI stage.

Managing the deal pipeline and breaking down deals is basically all I’ve done so far.

2 pages on a deal once it moves past initial review. 1 page SWOT analysis and 1 mini lbo.

Got it lmao, nah man I think this is pretty common for these types of internships, pretty unstructured without a lot of training at these smaller shops. Will be good for your resume though to have it on there, focus on building relationships with the full time guys and start digging into old models/CIMS/IC memos in your free time and get what you can out of it. Even my summer analyst internship in IB I wasn't really given much in terms of real work/responsibility other than the most basic/boring shit.

Also - not dunking on New Mexico, my moms family is from there, had a lotta good times there as a kid.

Same man, 22 years old as intern at a LMM shop and all I do is update our deal pipeline, portfolio financials, transaction comps, and small ad-hoc shit like that. My advice is just recognize internships are learning opportunities, and they view you as a student. So hop on calls, ask questions, and make the most of you're only opportunity to be expected to ask stupid questions. Our time will come, brother

This sounds in line for an intern at a PE shop.  Always good to show more initiative and make the most of your time there, but you're also at the mercy of the current deal environment so it's not all that surprising that you haven't moved on beyond initial stage of a process.  And ultimately it's not like you're going to be asked to lead the diligence or modeling even if you do get further along in a process...the intern's role is primarily to support the associate and maybe VP.
