Getting foot in the door PE

I'm a junior at a well known school in finance in Boston. I play a D1 sport there so I'm on a bit of a different schedule than most college students. I really would like to find my way into a PE firm or RE investment firm in Boston for an internship this summer but I know it's tougher than filling out a structured application like in IB for many smaller PE shops and I was just hoping to find some advice to get an interview with one of these firms.

As opposed to the lesser well-known schools like Harvard and MIT

I go to school near Boston and have cold emailed my way to multiple roles in IB/PE/AM. Boston has so many great opportunities to get experience.

I would recommend reaching out to former athletes at the firms and play up your athletics. Some firms favor athletes.

Definitely agree hit up any athletes at smaller PE shops in Boston. You're a bit late to the game and like 99% of spots for next summer have been filled, so you should be looking for pretty small firms that wouldn't have a structured internship program. Look up networking guides on here, you're looking at sending at leat 100-200 emails and hopping on the phone or grabbing coffee with anyone who is willing. Hopefully you can find some people from your sport who would be more incentivized to help you
