Go Buyside - Worth the Upgrade?

I’ve been on Go Buyside for about a month now and spoken to one recruiter and applied to maybe 20 jobs. I get a fair amount of notifications that “an investment manager has downloaded your resume.” The only way to see which firm is to upgrade. Has anyone upgraded? Is it worth it?

No, not really. Not worth it. Better to pay the cost and go to literally one PEHUB conference and get some biz cards. Take it with a grain of salt as I base this on absolutely nothing. The one or two interviews I got through gobuyside were garbage. I'm desperate, and I even withdrew from those... Only good interview I got through them was HIG but they didn't liaise the process in the traditional sense there, so I don't really count that one.

I legitimately question the value of their website. All the top interviews are still done through traditional HH. Every now and then they will have decent insight on interviewing / culture, but nothing substantial or you couldn't find out on here/speaking with other current / former IB analysts who've done buyside recruiting.

Would not recommend paying for premium or using them at all. They post a couple good opportunities but never heard back when I submitted my application. The opportunities might even be fake for all we know.

I'm at a low tier/unranked firm so out of desperation applied to quite a breadth of opportunities on there and got interviews for a few opportunities, including making it to final rounds for half of them. Agree that most of them are shittier firms (one firm asked if I had experience cold-calling people because they wanted me to cold-call industry consultants and get info out of them instead of paying...).

So yes, at least some of them are real opps, but with less than 5% being decent/great jobs.  CEO is a dick too, tried forcing me once to apply for a job that "I would be lucky to get" even though I didn't like the firm. Jokes on him since I ended up getting an offer from a firm that was much better through a traditional HH.
