GoBuyside - any good?

Their website/service came up in another thread and since I never heard of them before I'm hoping for some insights: - do you get access to legitimate positions or at least information? - is there any info concerning the firms they work(ed) with? - while they state their "global" nature do they also cover Europe/Middle East/Asia? - anybody has some detailed experiences with them?

As always, thanks to everyone who can join in with valuable contributions!

No idea to be honest, they spammed all the first years in my bank but nobody really took any notice of it. I will say that they have sent out useful prep material and have been good at keeping you up to date, so could possibly be the real deal.

No idea about the guy's background but it's not a bad source of information. Seems like they generally report new processes starting either the day of or the day after candidates hear from the respective firms. Really not much you can do if you weren't selected for a process, short of having a meaningful connection to that firm, but I found that it was useful to get a sense of what opportunities you were being shown and what headhunters thought of you vis-a-vis that information. For example, I realized at the beginning of the March rush that I wasn't getting many distressed HF looks and figured it was because I didn't state a strong enough preference for it. So naturally I reached out to the right headhunters and told them I was dying to get distressed credit opps. The guy actually makes a pretty good point about the lack of transparency in the recruiting process. It really doesn't help anyone but the headhunters to not know what processes are going on and getting the right kids matched with the right opportunities. To the extent that it helps candidates 'play the game', there's not a whole lot of downside.

I know they've had a couple of firms that have worked directly with them. Sterling Partners was one I believe. Nothing to get excited about at this point.

Also, that email was a back and forth with Dynamics. To be fair, Dynamics did kind of fuck up and deserve to be called out - I believe they sent out emails to candidates saying they were getting an interview with Lindsay Goldberg when it was actually Leonard Green.

GoBuySide is only useful for current IB analysts. You will get zero utility from making a profile as an undergrad. It's a hub of information for when firms start their processes for candidates that are trying to move to the buy-side.
