Direct out of undergrad, probably 3.7+ actual cutoff but big preference for ~3.9s unless you have great “other” on your resume, from banking or consultant pipeline, 3.7+ works but for the top top funds you’d want higher or have some “other”

once you’re in, recruiting for the next gig, it matters way way less and work experience matters most

b schools do also care a lot about it if that’s something on your mind

Good question. Probably depends on what stage of career. I still see it on vp resumes, though part of that is the b school pipeline (whether or not candidate comes from b school). For vp and below I’d probably leave it on even if its 3.4 ish. Otherwise i might assume the worst if I don’t see it. Others should weigh in here though. My perspective is very limited to Mm/Umm.

Same answer as I gave above…unless below a 3.4ish I’d still leave it on so you avoid the question but also feel better and know that it will be weighed much less heavily / overlooked. If you’re out of undergrad, yeah I want to see a 3.7+ because you just really don’t have much else accomplished. But if you’re clearly a competent guy with 3.4 who has done great deals over the past 4 years and has good recs etc, then I’d be foolish to not at least give you a look just because of your lower gpa from years and years ago.
