Group Placement at EB - top choice not supportive of PE recruiting

Going through group placement for full time right now. The group I am most interested in joining (and I think will offer some of the best exit ops) is not supportive of buyside recruiting.

How should I handle it when seniors ask what my career plans are? I would like to do my two years and get out, but if I admit that I don't see myself staying in banking, I risk being placed in a worse group.

Turnover is normal in this group, but most people don't recruit on-cycle. For personal reasons, I would like to recruit on-cycle, but I know it would make it obvious to the group that I never had intentions of staying. Another option is to wait a year and go on-cycle, but I'd have to spend an extra year in banking.

Any advice?
