Headhunter Outreach

Hi guys, 2nd year A/AC/BA here at an MBB firm in a target city. I intentionally didn't answer any of the headhunter outreach from the fall for 2022 opportunities since I didn't feel ready at the time. I'm now interested in 2023 buyside opportunities and feel ready - should I respond directly to the emails from the HHs from a couple of months ago flagging that I'm now ready, or should I cold email those same HHs based on contact info from their website?

If I do respond directly to the initial emails, do I have to explain why I didn't answer their outreach at the time? Will it reflect poorly of me to not have responded then and responding now?
