Headhunter Question
Are candidates allowed to work with more than one headhunter? So let’s say you are working with one headhunter firm but they do not cover one of the PE firms you are interested in, can you simultaneously work with another headhunter firm?
Absolutely not but you should be forthcoming if asked and not have the same job spec come up through 2 different recruiters. All about trust and presentation. They will get annoyed and most likely stop working with you.
If there's a specialty type for specific firms I personally only use one for that segment (for me its a top tier buyside type role)
Can you elaborate on this a little if possible? Are you saying the Company hiring gets annoyed or your recruiters. For what it's worth I've only ever used a single recruiter since we have a more lengthy relationship and this recruiter understands what I'm looking for more, but she did say that I should also reach out to the other top recruiters as well if I ever want to seek other opps.
I’ve done this. It’s a lot to manage on your end
Based on the most helpful WSO content, it's not uncommon for candidates to work with multiple headhunters. This can be beneficial as different headhunters may have connections with different firms, expanding your potential opportunities. However, it's crucial to maintain clear communication with all parties involved to avoid any potential conflicts or misunderstandings. For instance, you wouldn't want two headhunters sending your resume to the same firm. So, yes, you can work with more than one headhunter, but manage the process carefully.

Yes you can, and you should
Surprised by some of these comments. Everyone I know has used multiple headhunters.
Honestly not sure if VIX was even written by a human.
Agreed, totally normal and encouraged. Recruiters represent (and are paid by) firms, not candidates, so you’ll want to put out feelers to several to get a breadth of opportunities.
I mightve misinterpreted tbh looking back- it's bad to have your resume thrown into the ring for the same job by 2 recruiters. Recruiters need to catch the big fish, we just need to have a book that lists out firms our CV has gone to and if possible, be selective. Separately if I'm far along in a process I like, I'd want to keep the conversation open with the recruiter if the current spec falls through, but not start the process and dip after 1 round. Nobody wins there
