How do you find targets for growth equity?

Looking for targets for PE investments seem more straightforward to me than for growth equity. I’m curious how those of you in the space think about investing in a company and how you screen for potential candidates.

Many ways to think about it, one way is to run a news screen for all series A VC investments in your sub vertical for the last 18-24 months.. then get on the phone and talk to them about series B-E and see who bites (financials supporting of course)

Sorry might be a dumb question but aren’t most of those first series rounds venture and not growth?
