How to think about management equity plan?

Hi guys:

When thinking about a potential LBO deal, how does one come up with a reasonable management equity plan please? What are the things to think about when considering what level to set management promote, hurdle rate , etc? I’m just not sure what are the things to check to see if the numbers I plug in (let’s say 10%) are realistic or not in real life.

Thank you
