I’m bad at this job
Almost 6 months into the new role in PE and I feel completely underwater with very little support. Hours are not unreasonable, but currently working in a niche sub vertical that is entirely different from the type of business I worked on in IB. I feel like I should know what I’m doing at this point but am falling behind significantly. The types of analyses in this sector are completely new to me and there’s always something I feel like I’m missing. Feels like I’m hitting a brick wall. Does it get any better??

Yes it gets better. The first year in PE is really tough no matter what fund you are it. You constantly feel overwhelmed.
The second year is much better. You have a few reps by then and the stress declines dramatically as your confidence and competence build. You also have better relationships with the team, which goes a long way.
Hang in there. We all went through that period and had the same thoughts you are having now.
What kind of feedback are you getting (either formally or informally)? Has your firm suggested you're "on track" or not necessarily?
Nothing. Don’t know if I’m just in my head but still feel like I’m doing poorly
