Is it normal to get PE inbounds?

Hi All,

This may be a dumb topic, but has happened twice now so unsure if this is typical and how real the opportunity is. I am a few months in at an institutional developer (one of Related/Tishman/TCC) in a portfolio management seat. I have started to get a little bit of the typical reach out for various crappy RE roles through my LinkedIn. However, I have recently been contacted on two occasions by two different headhunters for LMM (one is maybe on the cusp of MM) funds (one PE one PC). Were this for REPE roles I wouldn't have given it much thought, but it seems odd that I am getting outreach for more traditional PE roles.

Is this normal or did I just randomly get on a list somehow? For what it's worth I do not have previous IB experience (started in MO at a BB and then moved to a strategy-esque role at a startup that exited prior to jumping over to RE). Also went to HSW which a friend told me could be the reason.

I have no plans to leave my firm, I just wanted to know if this is typical as it took me by surprise, as I thought only IB/PE/MBB people got outreach for roles this soon (have been in my seat <3mo)

Thanks

I can see why. HSW, BB on resume (albeit not IB but name is there), and the strategy role means it could at least be worth a shot for the headhunter to reach out especially for a LMM type firm.

Got it, makes sense. My LinkedIn makes it clear that it was not IB for what it's worth (job title specifies what the actual role was). I guess it's a good thing that my background is enough to get on recruiters radars if I ever want to make the switch (which I guess makes sense, my current firm hired me as an associate despite having no RE experience, although I had some civil engineering internships). From what I can tell, I would only really be interested in LMM/MM PE anyway, so I would rather be on their lists than the ones for larger firms.

Told the last guy I was not ready to leave my current firm as I just started and wanted to gain more experience and they said asked if I could provide an updated resume so they could circle back with me end of year. I plan to leave my current city in a year or two, so if I can't make that happen internally hopefully the LMM option is there in a few years if that doesn't work.
