Is recruiting from a regional office an auto-ding for MF PE?

Like the title says:

Incoming full time analyst at an EB (MOE, LAZ, CVP, EVR) non-ny office, from a good school with relevant prior PE experience and a high GPA. Potentially interested in recruiting for MF PE this upcoming cycle.

Is being at a regional office, or not in NY an auto ding for most MF PE funds? Is it a serious disadvantage or uphill battle for on-cycle recruiting?
