Landed the dream job… how to keep it?

I’m starting my dream PE job in a few months in a partner-track role. Seeing chatter about layoffs in PE, especially at the VP/Principal level and was wondering if anyone had tips on being a top performer / as “recession proof” as possible. I’ve gone from banking to my first PE job to BSchool and now back to PE, but my first two roles were 2 and out, so this is the first time I’m looking to build a long-term career at a firm. Think Associates are mostly safe for now, but am trying to really set myself apart as a top performer from day 1 and also gain insights on navigating the unstable mid-level. Any perspectives on what you’ve seen candidates who keep their seats in downturns do to differentiate themselves would be highly appreciated!
