Lateral Opportunities from UMM?

What kind of opportunities should I expect if lateraling from a UMM fund (latest fund size of $9B) in NYC? I would like to stay and get promoted but understand there are few seats and I may need to lateral. Are most opportunities going to be downstream to MM or is it common to move to another UMM or even MF at the Senior Associate level? Do most firms require you to 'take a step back' in terms of title? Any thoughts would be appreciated
