Define math. Are we talking PEMDAS or calculus? Because there are plenty of finance jobs that don't use "advanced" math.
True, from what I've heard IBD just uses mostly PEMDAS (maybe some regression) and as you advance up there's less math and more sales involved.
If I wanted to become a financial analyst, would I need to do mental math well? Shameful truth: I am very sharp, top in class, but I use a calculator for everything (wouldnt be able to do a 3% of 4b...embarrassing I know).
This.
equity sales
S&T on the sales side or PWM.
I hate sales, also PWM. NOTHING in securities research i could do???
How about compliance???
Just going to take a shot in the dark here and say you are interested in some sort of research.
insightful...a man after my own heart. YES. because i'm good at it.
Can we please end this stupid myth that you need to be good at math to work in finance?
For 99pct of roles, you just need to be comfortable with numbers. Thats really about it. The complicated math stuff can be understood without actually having the ability to derive the equations. Obviously it helps if you can understand at a mathematical level but a conceptual understanding is fine too.
