LongRange Capital - Thoughts?

Has anyone worked with them? Or know anyone that works there? Trying to get a sense of comp, WLB, general experience. Fund was started by Bob Berlin (ex-Baupost  head of PE) in 2020 with $1.5Bn from CALPERs. Just 7 IPs so far

Yes I have worked with them. Prior to working with them I interviewed for a PE associate role with them (and even their quasi-predecessor firm Navab Capital). Then later on while a banker again, I worked with them a bit on a deal. Can’t speak much to comp and the like, but would guess it’s fairly in line with other MM-type PE firms. Culture seemed friendly and the like and all employees seemed like nice people. Beyond that it seems like a standard PE shop that has maybe more of a longer term or even credit focus. Maybe even has some aspects of the MF PE experience too in terms of the types of deals they may look at or the level of finance knowledge needed to be a smart, good standing employee there from the little I gleaned of it. Seems like an elite firm but that is just my small perspective.

Bob seems like a disciplined value, cash flow investor, some of which I’m guessing he picked up working so long for Seth at Baupost.

Good luck and best wishes
