Mad Hatter in the Basement of Platinum Equity - What's going on over there?

Seen a couple threads on here about how nice Platinum Equity's LA office is — historical building right in the heart of Beverly Hills — but never been myself (work LMM IB in the area). Apparently everything about it is through the roof (dark wood interior, catered food, fine art etc.). Don't know much about the shop besides that but have seen some of their past deals in the news.

I heard through friends that they have some artist working away in the literal basement of the office. Apparently he's got a whole studio setup (think multiple rooms, kitchen etc.) about a floor below where the juniors sit. Also has pretty crazy celebrities come visit/walkthrough on a regular basis.

Anyone know if there's any truth to this? Know they have a bit of sports exposure w/ the pistons as a portco, so maybe trying to carve of fine arts as a new vertical? Maybe on retainer to decorate the office? Didn't really think they would touch that, seems pretty crazy

Anyone in LA know more? Seems too cool to be true

I heard he’s the dude from the threads a couple months back who was trying to start oncycle and made THL go….

Used to work in the area, can confirm. I used to see him with this little cuban guy — maybe an assistant or housekeeper? Rumor has it the guy would let analysts come down and have drinks with him, not sure though. No idea if he actually worked for Platinum anyways
