MBA VP Recruiting - Prior PE Experience
Pretty straightforward question, but I'm getting my MBA from an MM fund. Burned out from PE (mostly due to my particular fund/team), so the play would be to find an internship at a high-growth startup to see if I like tech. If not, I would recruit for PE again, but focus on growth.
I know this is relatively common, but from browsing the forum, it seems super unstructured, with little on-campus recruiting (and if there is, it's targeted at diversity). Obviously having prior experience is helpful, but curious from folks exactly how difficult the search is for a VP role out of MBA? If I was still working, I'd just hit up all my HH contacts, but I'm wondering if the process is different.
I’m general you should be okay for a move to an “equal” firm if this labor market holds up and it’s an m7. Swimming upstream would be tough and more dependent on your specific details. Doesn’t sound like you’d want to go bigger based on your experience to date.
