MD-->MBB--> advantage for PE enty

I'd appreciate your insights on this since many of you are likely more experienced than I am. I'm an MD (medical doctor) with an offer for an associate position at MBB. Will my background as a physician be an advantage if I try to get into PE after doing consulting for some time? Do people know of examples of people who have done this and can comment on their experience? At what level would I enter into a PE firm and how much would I expect to earn?

Thanks for the help guys!

Thanks for your responses, any additional input would be appreciated.

For VC/growth equity should I expect to enter at VP level? What are the expected earnings at that level? Would I have equity in the firms investments?
