Media & Comm Investing

Curious if anyone recommends any good books / materials / primers on the media & communications space. Moving to a firm with an industry focus in the area and hoping to read / learn more about the sector from an investor perspective.

I would recommend trying to read as much research as possible - Moffettnathanson, Lightshed, etc. I'd also recommend trying to learn about spectrum / communications technology if your firm works in that. Its a jargon / technical space - so good to have some info going in.

Also, and while this is not strictly investing related, I would recommend reading some of the books regarding the key icons in the media space just learn more about the landscape etc - Cable Cowboy (about John Malone) and Ride of a Lifetime (by Bob Iger) are some good ones to start with.

As someone about to start working in media banking and wants to go to buyside media / entertainment investing, without doxing yourself could you please tell me what shops did you look at in this space? I only know of a few that are serious players in pure media. Like RedBird, Arctos, Shamrock. Did you have media knowledge prior?

Sorry guys, it's fucking media and comm. How tough can it be? This is no FIG or BioTech or P&U
Use common sense when evaluating assets
Understands sources of competitive advantage for the target (network effects, subscriber captivity with respect to switching costs, breadth and diversity of business models, fixed cost advantages etc) and that's media/comm for you in a nut shell
