On Cycle 2028: Expected Start Date?

Hi all - for incoming AN1s wondering if anyone has heard anything through the grapevine. Hoping last year set a new standard, since no one wants to sacrifice the little free time in between grad and full time burning through paper LBOs. Maybe that's just me though

Based on the most helpful WSO content, the timing of on-cycle recruiting has historically shifted earlier each year, but recent trends suggest some stabilization. For example:

  • On-cycle 2020 began in mid-October 2018.
  • On-cycle 2021 kicked off around September 12, 2019.
  • On-cycle 2022 was confirmed for post-Labor Day (early September).
  • On-cycle 2023 was reportedly pushed to late August/September due to concerns about candidate preparedness.

Given this pattern, it's reasonable to expect that on-cycle 2028 could follow a similar timeline, likely starting in late August or early September. However, this is speculative, and the exact timing will depend on market conditions and feedback from PE firms and headhunters. Keep an eye on updates from headhunters and forums like WSO for the latest insights.

Going to be January. PE firms still will always heed the words of Jaime DImon and the other senior banking leaders.
