On-Cycle ad a second year

Wrapping up my first year in a top group at a top BB. Last year, I mostly sat out On-Cycle, as I wasn’t sure I wanted to do PE, and flunked out of th three off-cycle processes I took this year (would pass first couple rounds, but fail technically) - this is mainly because I wasn’t really trying to do PE, and was spending more time looking at start-up / VC roles. Over the last few months I’ve had a change of heart, and decided to try participating in the on-cycle processes this year - is this doable? Will firms / HHs ding me for being a second year? Anyone have any insights? I’m obviously very prepared now, with a full year and multiple sell sides under my belt that I can speak to very well , but haven’t been getting much HH traction. I flunked out of the modeling round for two processes when I just started on the desk (and hadn’t any prep), and am concerned that may be a reason
