PE Analyst Exits - Only PE/HF?
It makes sense that PE analysts may have been passionate enough to become investors out of undergrad, and thus stick around in PE or move to become HF investors. Wondering if PE analysts also recruit for roles like strategic finance roles that an IB or Consulting analyst/equivalent get access to, or if they're siloed early on / rarely go to those roles via to self selection.
Following - if at MFPE, how do other MFPE exits (assuming you have good reason) or HF looks typically go? Especially relative to IB
You can recruit for anything you want: your technical expertise will be viewed positively. However, you will need to have a strong story as to why you want to leave the buy side.
Do you think they can still get hired at opportunities that IB Analysts can get, eg., strategic finance roles? Just thinking as they’re not PE associates yet, and as PE analysts aren’t as well-established programs to hire from vs MBB Consulting & IB firms. Would imagine anything buyside is open for them.
I think they can if they can if they have a good profile, yes. I do not see why not.
110%, and what you see is selection bias. I think the reality here is that to get one of these PE analyst spots, you generally have to live and breath finance very specifically from high school or very early college. Consequently , those peeps generally are not interested in Strat fin.
