PE Assoc. Role Prep Work
Acknowledge several versions of this post exist...... starting at a lmm/mm PE fund in a month or so and was looking for advice regarding prep work. Any suggestions on how to transition from banking to PE? I’m pretty strong in my current banking role however that doesn’t mean I’ll be strong in the PE role - I didn’t do intensive PE recruiting prep.
Reading: Any books that are interesting that would be good to get in the right mindset? Also appreciate any books that would help me become a more interesting person
Modeling: what specific finance topics would you focus on? LBO or P&L projection model or some other type of model? Would you focus on understanding/familiarizing with concepts and items like fund flows and returns analyses?
Lastly, how would you allocate your time to the above based on impact to being a good employee on days 1 - 100?
Id think there is a similar learning curve to banking but no one ever mentions that...
Thanks in advance to all.
