PE firm worklife balance
Hi Monkeys - which PE firms have the best overall worklife balance in terms of hours & WFH flexibility?

All jokes aside, it depends. Are you talking about funds of any size? I'd imagine some LMM funds offer pretty good WLB / WFH flexibility but might be hard to pin them down.
I think Vista goes in 3x a week. Know a bunch of other sizable funds that go in 3x a week. Bunch of the bigger NYC-based funds go in 4-5x a week now it seems.
Could you provide names of other NYC based funds that allow flexibility to WFH 2-3 days per week?
Don’t do PE if you care about wlb
American Securities is surprisingly flexible when possible. Open to some remote work and offer WFH days.
What do weekends look like there?
Partners Group— 25 vacation days a year and most teams even at the junior level don’t go north of 55 hours a week (excluding teams such as tech buyout).
THANK YOU! this is exactly what im looking for. let me know if you kn ow any other firms with similar policies. open to PE/VC
Can you tell me everything you know about Partners group tech buyout please? I am at a tech UMM but want to be in Denver post-MBA. Thank you in advance - I will give banan.
Is this true of non tech buyout/PE teams at Partners Group? Coming from UMM PE this seems too good to be true, especially in a hip LCOL city like Denver
PG is European. It's worth noting that a lot of firms in London/ Europe itself have 25 days of vacation per year. PG Denver might be a special case when compared to other firms in the US, but not in London in terms of vacation days.
Pretty sure Partners Group pay is well below market FWIW
Please let me know if you know of any similar European-based firms that have offices in NYC. For more context, I am looking to work in IR/BD side of the business, not investing.
Do you work there? Because based off people I know there, 55 hours per week is not fucking true. Maybe it's their specific groups, but this is also non-tech buyout so idk man...
Am in business school and have not heard of any large PE firms with good WLB. Aha.
Partners Group has 119bn AUM and 17bn fund size. Hours don’t go beyond 55h excluding tech buyout
Bain cap probably has the best WLB out of the MFs, and it’s also at 2-3 days WFH per week.
Pension fund or SWF
PE or credit arm of a LifeCo (PGIM, MetLife, etc.). You will make less than market comp and won't get carry, but WLB is exceedingly reasonable.
Corp dev hours with slight cash comp premium and faster career advancement is how I'd describe it.
Would you say it's basically impossible to get WLB if you want market comp
At a MF, guess I'm just lucky 9am-10/11pm (unless running hard at deals which is one week every 6-7 weeks), rarely weekend work (with the exception during live deals)
Cons: No wfh
Which fund is this?
Has to be a consultant-friendly fund like Bain Cap or Advent I'm guessing?
Definitely not Advent
Private credit
Any firm with real negative overtime pay out there?
