PE On Cycle - Prep Question

Does what you study (major) in college matter at all when it comes to on-cycle recruiting? Student at HYPWS, with a 3.8 GPA. I'm currently thinking about potentially switching majors and was interested to see if major choice had any impact on on-cycle recruiting. Is major irrelevant? Are GPA, School, Bank, and Group the main criteria for on-cycle? Does it matter only for certain fund sizes (i.e. MF, UMM, LMM)? 


I'm interested in switching majors from Economics to Political Science. More interested in PoliSci and I don't want to be buried in stats/multi-variable calc. for my college tenure. At the same time, I don't want to be at a disadvantage for on-cycle by switching majors. Seems like most people from HYPWS in IB/PE study Econ
