PE Portfolio Operations & Value Creation

Interviewing for this role after a traditional PE stint. Wondering:

  1. Should I expect similar comp or a decrease?
  2. Are there many other firms that have a group like this, in the case I’d like to pivot firms later in a similar role? Specific names would be helpful.
  3. How difficult is it to go back to an investing seat down the road of life?

Any insight is appreciated, and thanks in advance for the help.

  1. I'd expect maybe 1/2 step to 1 step down in pay (e.g., VP in Ops might be paid more like investment team Senior Associate) but depends heavily on firm size and mentality (some might be closer to parity)
  2. There are lots of these - KKR, Vista, Francisco, Clearlake, Berkshire Partners, Mainsail, Insight, Bain Capital, many others
  3. I'd say pretty difficult. Once you go to ops, unusual to see someone come back to investing.
