At one of the major FOF's but an intern so take this with a grain of salt.
But secondaries is hot rn because it's harder to exit out funds currently and so many GP's are either carving out prized assets into special vehicles to 'manage' them for a longer period OR LP's are in need of liquidity and are selling out to other secondaries buyers. The role is quite qualitative like manager research and so forth but also involves some niche modelling like taking the largest asset and modelling that or fund level modelling more commonly. Pretty Chill hours for the most part.
