It can vary. 5-8 conversations. I had a few of these so I can give some data points.

One UMM was like 70% technical or case, a terrible experience tbh. It went well but I just hated being there and the environment. I went to lunch with two of the partners and wanted to kms.

One UMM had a technical interview, 1-2 non technical (also a lunch), a case interview and a paper LBO. This was one was even worse, this terrible partner kept asking me mental math questions and I was in disbelief.

The firm I accepted at is a MF and it was almost entirely non technical except for a model test during the super day. Some questions about investing but nothing that I would call technical.

Btw, I majored in math and am very technically strong, but what I really disliked about the technical interviews at the MMs was that it just wasn’t consultative or a two way street at all, it was like they wanted me to just not have any questions even if the question wasn’t easy to assume away. Just felt intellectually dishonest and not an environment in which I would want to work and learn.

In my case, I have already built an investment memo and LBO for review before the superday. I can do a paper LBO with ease. But, not sure if there’s any good resource out there for common PE interview questions. Also what are the most important strength for PE asssociate? Is it the same as IB? Team work, detail oriented, and resourceful b/s?
