PE to HF

I am a PE associate thinking of moving to HF land.

I know the common thinking is to do a SM, but I feel that those are in secular decline and it feels to me that MMs are the more effective model. I have had outreach from a few MMs, including citadel.

For those that have worked at Citadel/MMs, and were in PE, how would you compare the jobs? Do you like your role better? What does it take to succeed - I hear many people get canned very quickly. How does comp scale as well?

Thanks!
