How relevant is this metric really? For anyone on this site, wouldn’t latest flag ship size be a much better metric? Raising an Asian real estate fund or whatever isn’t exactly relevant to the US buyout team
Agree on the first point though want to point out that only private equity (in a broad sense, including venture capital, growth, even distressed for control) is included in the fundraising totals
Apollo raises a single flagship pool every 5-6 years whereas everyone else has many pools (albeit smaller) and/or probably raise capital at a faster pace (i.e. WP raises every 3 years)
