Possible PE Nepo Seeking Advice
I hit a networking home run with a higher-up at a large PE firm (think Advent/Warburg Pincus/Cerberus/Pantheon). He took a liking to me, asked for my resume, and sent it to the Chief of HR. He said he attached a note mentioning he'd like me to intern with them Summer 2026 in his fund. He made it sound like there's no interview or application at all. From what I have gathered about this firm, it is extremely nepo heavy and very private. There is a serious lack of information on this firm...the more research I do, the more I think they literally do not have an official recruitment process/application. That said, interviews for other SA 2026 jobs have been starting up, and I have not heard anything from HR or my contact. The last I reached out to my contact was right before the holidays when I briefly emailed him asking if I can speak with HR to get an idea for internship timelines and logistics (since there is literally no information online and no prior interns will answer me, AND to see if I actually do have to interview). Time is of the essence here, and I am now questioning if I should follow up again with him, or if I should just wait to hear from HR. Please give advice.
Continue to act as if you don't have an internship secured... Until you have an internship secured.
In the meantime, yes it's okay to follow up with someone you havent heard from in over a month.
