Preparing for PE Associate role?
Hi - I’ll be starting as a PE associate at an UMM / MF in a few months, where I’ll be focusing on tech / hc services. I have around 1.5 - 2 years of BB banking experience. Have some time off before I start, and wanted to see if people could offer some advice on how to best prepare for the job? I’ve been reading up on the industry a bit more, but anything else I should read / brush up on? Anything that current PE associates wish they were better at before they started?
Thanks in advance!
Interested to know as well.
See if they'll send you any old IC decks / memos so you can start getting up to speed on what they look for, how they evaluate businesses, risks / highlights, etc.
Thanks this is helpful. Anything else you'd recommend?
Step #1 - quit your job
Step #2 - go to a beach
Step #3 - do nothing til new job; they will teach you everything you need to know there
This is the way

Have a few weeks before I start and wanted to ask how to best prep to have a strong start?
Bump
Do absolutely nothing enjoy any free time while you have it. Made the mistake of prepping and wish I could just enjoy the free time again.
Dang, really. I don't have a crazy amount of reps at M&A, so I am concerned that I am going to be missing something.
