I just had a question because I don’t think this has been explicitly stated to me.
Are private equity roles conditional to you completing your analyst stint? For example, if I sign an offer to start in summer 2022, can I not quit my IB position now, and do something else until the role kicks off?

Implicitly it is. We’re hiring you because you’ve been well trained for 2 years and have been run through the gauntlet. It’s already an issue that some analyst coast after they get their offer so the training is less rigorous. If you outright leave your job…. Frankly you already have the wrong attitude, doubt you’ll handle the demands of the PE job very well… in addition to lacking the training/experience/reps of your peers that actually completely their 2y stint.
