Private Equity in Bangkok?

I’m currently in PE in the US at a MM firm and have been thinking about making a move back to Thailand (where I’m from). Does anyone have any advice or thoughts on the PE scene there (regional / local respected shops)?

I have some experience sourcing proprietary dealflow in the US and have a good personal network of family-owned businesses in SEA. Long term goal would be to start a fund, but not sure how to carve my path back to Bangkok. I know there’s a PE scene in SG with a few MFs, which could be a good start.

Understand its a niche topic so I’d appreciate any thoughts on this!

Dealflow is absolutely trash in general. Spoke to PE ASO & he talked about switching back to IBD since they only got to do 1 deal a year. Only shops worth looking at is MS (small team) and Lombard Asia. Otherwise, would look into Kiatnakin for IBD instead.

No, Asia MM PE to Asia IBD. From my understanding, it's really rare for anyone to pivot back to Asia from US unless at a senior level or for corp dev. Though I'm only an incoming SA, parents are in the industry so pretty familiar with the scene. Got pushed to do top US BB instead because of dealflow and don't plan on returning to Asia for IB/PE.
